The opportunity

We are seeking an Senior Backend Developer to join our mission of transforming the entertainment industry through advanced metadata technologies. This is a rare opportunity to work at the core of our flagship metadata engine and products that power TV interfaces for millions of viewers across some of the world’s most prominent Telecom and OTT platforms.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will architect, develop, and scale the backbone systems that fuel our metaDNA engine and Global Sport Hub platform. You’ll work directly with our CTO, a pioneer of the IPTV industry, and company leadership in an entrepreneurial environment where your contributions directly impact our global expansion.

• Location: Zagreb, Croatia
• Type of work: Full-time, 5 days a week
• Employment agreement: Permanent employment work agreement
• Work type: Hybrid work model with option to work remotely multiple days per week.

What you’ll Do

Build next-generation metadata systems:

• Design, develop, test, and monitor our advanced metadata engine (metaDNA) and sport live score platform
• Architect scalable backend solutions that handle real-time metadata normalization, enrichment, and delivery for global Telecom and OTT operators
• Develop and optimize AI/ML pipelines that power our semantic content analysis and “genetic” profiling system

Drive innovation and technical excellence:

• Lead the implementation and adoption of new AI and machine learning tools to enhance metadata intelligence and content discovery capabilities
• Collaborate with cross-functional development teams to implement innovative features that improve customer experience and viewer engagement
• Establish best practices for code quality, testing, deployment, and system monitoring

Shape the future of entertainment technology:

• Work on projects for some of the most relevant Telecom operators and broadcasters in Europe, Middle East, and globally
• Contribute your expertise to strategic technical decisions that impact millions of viewers worldwide
• Mentor team members and share knowledge to elevate the entire engineering organization

Who you are

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Fluent in English (written and verbal communication)
• Strong proficiency in PHP programming and modern PHP frameworks (Symfony, Laravel, or similar)
• Expert-level experience with Linux environments and command-line tools
• Solid foundation in MySQL database design, optimization, and query performance
• Working knowledge of JavaScript (Angular, jQuery, or modern frameworks), HTML5, and CSS3
• Experience with Git version control and collaborative development workflows
• Practical experience implementing DevOps practices (CI/CD, containerization, monitoring)
